Annual Meeting and Festival |
|
For the first time ever, the annual meeting and festival of the Covenant of the Goddess will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on August 17-20, 2006. The Covenant of the Goddess, www.cog.org, is an international organization of Witches united as a federation of 140 covens plus solitary practitioners in service to the Craft and the Old Religion. Members have been gathering since 1975 for over 30 years to conduct business wherever a local council offers to host the festival. The Everglades Moon Local Council of Florida is the host in 2006! MerryMeet 2006 is a wonderful opportunity to attend workshops by prominent Witches who rarely attend other Florida festivals, learn about activities and accomplishments of CoG including an on-going commitment to interfaith, and stay at the Radisson Bahia Mar, 801 SeaBreeze Blvd., a four star hotel on Fort Lauderdale beach. Covenant of the Goddess will conduct leadership training Thursday August 17th specially designed for Wiccan clergy. Focus will be on “Using Consensus Process: What to do When Things Go Wrong. ” Instructors will be professional mediation trainers Gail Schiesser and Ginny Brubaker of Chicago. Gail Schiesser has twice been First Officer of Covenant of the Goddess. Workshops will be led by Amber K from Ardantane Witch College, the Rev Kirk White from Cherry Hill Pagan Seminary, Bryan Lankford, author of Wicca Demystified, and many others! See http://www.emlc.net/mm2006/mmworkshops.html Other festival speakers will include local leaders from the Voodoo and Santerian faiths. Main ritual will be held on the Atlantic Ocean in front of the hotel. Just imagine, workshops and great food with comfortable chairs and A/C! And while you are at MerryMeet, play What's Your Wiccan IQ. Separate cost for Thursday Leadership Training is $50 and this includes lunch. Check if enrollment is still open. Email merrymeet@cog.org Each morning, Day Passes will be available at the door from 8:30 AM until 10 AM for $25. Lunch at the hotel is $20.
